FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Do I need any dance experience before I start Belly Dance classes?

A: No, no prior dance experience is needed as Belly Dance involves natural, organic movements of the body and we break down each new move step-by-step.

Q: Do I have to be skinny to Belly Dance?

A: Not at all. The authentic Egyptian Belly Dancers are well endowed and still manage to perform graceful, beautiful movements. The wonderful thing about Belly Dance is that it is an expression of your own inner beauty and your beauty will manifest itself on the dance floor, no matter what shape you are.

Q: Can I Belly Dance when I’m pregnant?

A: Absolutely. As long as your doctor hasn’t told you not to exercise, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t Belly Dance. However, make sure you inform your teacher that you are pregnant so that she can keep your moves slow to medium, and not have you overdoing the moves that are too fast and that will cause your heartbeat to escalate too high. The slow to medium moves are great for pregnant women as they keep the pelvis mobile, stretch and strengthen muscles, improve blood circulation and help keep you fit.

Q: Am I too old to Belly Dance?

A: There is no age limit to Belly Dancing, as long as you are relatively fit and have been given the ‘all clear’ by your doctor, you can dance.

Q: Am I too young to Belly Dance?

A: Children can learn to belly dance from any age, however, we are only equipped to teach children from the age of 10 years old.
