We offer workshops at our studio, or alternatively at your workplace!

No dance experience is needed for the first level Belly Dance Workshop we offer! Any age, body type or fitness level will be able to excel in this beautiful art form. Treat yourself to the Belly Dance Introduction Workshop or let go of your inhibitions and sign up for the progressive levels. Whichever workshop you decide to choose, dance, get fit and have fun as you shimmie along to the beats of the Middle East!

Belly Dance is a beautiful, sensual art form that originates from the Middle East and was originally danced by women to encourage fertility and to celebrate the arrival of womanhood. This dance expresses a femininity that is often hidden deep within us and is now enjoyed by many women all over the world. Belly Dance can turn ‘works outs’ into ‘pleasure outs’ as it offers a good way to exercise and have fun at the same time. The human body is meant to move and dance is simply movement to music, so anyone can do it. The energising and uplifting qualities of Belly Dance allows everyone to enjoy it no matter what their age, size, or experience may be.

Elements of
Belly Dance Workshops

Introduction Workshop: (1 Hour 30 minutes)
An introduction to the beautiful art of Belly Dancing including Basic Hip Work, Shimmies, Body Work, Basic Combinations and Routine Work.

Level 1: Foundation Workshop
(12 Session Series)

Information on Belly Dance, Breathing, Belly Dance Posture, Head Movements, Hand and Arm movements, Foot Work, Body Work, Hip Work, Egyptian Basic Traveling Step, Basic Combinations and Routine Work.

Level 2: Intermediate Workshop
(12 Session Series)

Arm movements, Foot Work, Body Work, Hip Work, Traveling Hip Movements, Traveling Upper-body Movements, Shimmies, Props (veil, cane, etc), Combinations and Routine Work.

Level 3: Advanced Workshop:
(12 Session Series)

Head Movements, Arms, Foot Work, Body Work, Hip Work, Traveling Hip Movements (review basics), Shimmies, Spinning, Floor work, Introduction to different Styles (such as Traditional vs. Contemporary, Moroccan, Turkish, Persian, Banghra), Props (fire, sword etc.), Combinations and Routine Work.

Level 1: 12 Session Series Maximum: 15 people
Level 2: 12 Session Series Maximum: 15 people
Level 3: 12 Session Series Maximum: 15 people

Prerequisite:

  • Individuals are asked to complete a Health Questionnaire before they start their first workshop.
  • Levels 1, 2 and 3 follow on from each other and must be followed sequentially. The Introduction Workshop is NOT a prerequisite for Level 1.


Clothing:

Wear comfortable clothing that allows the teacher to see your arms and legs, such as leggings and crop top, sleeveless top or tee shirt. Bring a hip-scarf if you have one, or just wrap a large scarf around your hips to accentuate your hip movements.. (Hip scarves are available on sale)

Water - and an open mind!
