Helena Edwards has achieved certification in a 200 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training course from the Haum of Yoga cc (2008), in a unique style called Indi Yoga.
Helena has been teaching Pilates and Bellydance for many years now and believes that Yoga compliments both activities extremely well. She also started learning about the philosophies of Yoga many years ago and has been striving to live according to the Yogic principles ever since.
“You might say that the physical part of Yoga that we all know so well is only an eighth of what Yoga encompasses, as the other limbs of Yoga (as in the Eight Limbs of Raja Yoga) include, ethical restraints (yamas), personal observances (niyamas), breathing techniques (pranayama), withdrawal of the senses (pratyahara), concentration (dharana), meditation (dhyana) and the goal of reaching a state of bliss (samadhi). Yoga is not just about exercise, it offers so many other benefits on so many different levels including tools for us to use in our lives, whether it be to overcome obstacles or to find stillness of the mind. If I can help one person find the same joy in Yoga that it brings to me, I’ll have done something worthwhile!” |
